CATO2 - Investigation of carbon capture
Within this project we analyze the process of post combustion carbon capture by chemical solvents. Therefore the reaction kinetics as well as the transport processes are analyzed. The results of this work will help to optimize the carbon capture and storage process (CCS), especially concerning the energy demand.
To achieve this goal a combination of 1D-Raman-spectroscopy measurements and thermodynamic modelling is used. The measurements provide spatial and time resolved concentration profiles of all species. These concentration profiles provide the information needed to separate the chemical reaction from the mass transfer. Furthermore these results are used to develop and validate thermodynamic models describing this process.
