Open adsorption systems can provide heating, cooling, storage of thermal energy, and dehumidification. Low-grade heat obtained from solar or waste heat can be energy sources. The systems are operated at atmospheric pressure.

We analyze adsorber designs and innovative sorbent materials to achieve the system's best performance.

Experimental Validation of dynamic model for open adsorption systems Copyright: © LTT

Our experimental setup consisted of a fan, a heater, an evaporator, and a changeable adsorber unit. The volume flow, the temperature, and the humidity were adjustable. We could also easily change the sorbent material by a filling port.

The system dynamics and the steady state conditions are predicted very well using validated dynamic models in the modeling language Modelica.
