Structure of the courses Thermodynamics I/II
Thermodynamics I is held in the summer semester and Thermodynamics II in the winter semester. The exam “Thermodynamics I/II” is a combined exam of both subjects and can be taken each semester.
Lecture
Dates, time and location of the lecture can be found in RWTHonline and in the respective RWTHmoodle course room. In the summer semester, all information is published in the RWTHmoodle course room "Thermodynamics I" whereas in the winter semester, all information is published in the RWTHmoodle course room "Thermodynamics II". Currently, the lecture is taught by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.Ing. Niklas von der Aßen.
Tutorial excercises ("Vorrechenübung"/VRÜ)
Dates, time and location of the tutorial exercise can be found in RWTHonline and RWTHmoodle. In the summer semester, all information is published in the course room "Thermodynamics I" whereas in the winter semester it is published in the course room "Thermodynamics II".
Exercise discussion ("Selbstrechenübung"/SRÜ)
In order to reinforce the lecture material, exercises are calculated under the guidance of scientific and student assistants.
The exact dates of the exercise discussion can be found in RWTHmoodle. For the participation in the self-calculating exercises, a registration is necessary. The registration is also located in RWTHmoodle.
Please note that students enrolled in the Bachelor program for a teaching profession are no longer supervised by LTT. Instead, the Institute of Technical Combustion under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ing. Heinz Pitsch is responsible for these students.
Consultation Hours
As an additional offer to deepen the contents, daily consultation hours are offered from 14:30 to 16:00.
Please note: The consultation hours do not start at the beginning of the semester and end one week before the exam. In the week before the exam, block consultation hours are offered. (see below). The exact dates for both consultation hours and block consultation hours can be found in RWTHmoodle.
Registration is not necessary for consultation hours.
The main topics of discussion are old exams as well as fundamental questions about thermodynamics.
Discussion hour thermodynamics
Discussion sessions provide the additional opportunity to ask questions about the lecture and more in-depth topics in thermodynamics. For this purpose, three discussion sessions will be offered in flipped classroom format with Prof. von der Aßen in attendance. In addition, an online discussion hour will be offered to clarify questions directly in exchange with Prof. Koß. More detailed information and dates can be found in RWTHmoodle.
Block consultation hours
In the last days before the exam, block consultation hours are offered to clarify open questions concerning the topics of thermodynamics. As a rule, the block consulting hours take place in the last five working days before the exam, from 13:00 to 16:00. More detailed information and dates can be found in RWTHmoodle.
