In the course Life-Cycle Assessment in energy and process engineering students are introduced to the Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. The focus is on LCA studies in the context of energy and process engineering and typical methodological decisions in such studies are explained. In the second half of the semester, students apply the knowledge gained in the lecture and exercise to a project in group work.
The contents of the lecture include
- Life-Cycle Assessment studies according to ISO 14040/14044
- Mathematical background of LCA
- Supply chain analyses
- Combining LCA and linear optimization
- Environmental impact categories beyond climate change
The course Life-Cycle Assessment in energy and process engineering is in English and offered in the winter semester. All further information on the module can be found on RWTHonline .
